Cat Trackers

Alumni Volunteer Program

You’re just the person we need.
Can you make the “Eat ‘em up Cats” hand signal in your sleep? Does walking up a steep hill give you a rush of nostalgia? Do you tell everyone you meet about Texas State? Then take advantage of this opportunity to channel your school spirit into a program that impacts young people’s futures. Be the reason that students choose Texas State! Sign up to be a Cat Tracker.

We’re looking for Texas State University-San Marcos alumni to share Bobcat pride with prospective students. Alumni volunteers are an intrinsic part of the admissions process. You bring excitement and vitality to the college search process, relating first-hand experiences and sharing your enthusiasm for Texas State.

We've outlined some ways to get involved with the admission process, and we hope that you will consider volunteering some of your time, it could be a little or a lot, it is up to you. For more information, please contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions at 512.245.2340 or e-mail us at CatTrackers@txstate.edu.

Promote Texas State
  • Volunteer for the Cat Trackers program.
  • Put a Texas State decal on your car window.

  • Use a Texas State mug at work.
  • Talk about Texas State!

Alumni Volunteer Opportunities

Alumni volunteers directly assist in the recruitment of students through participation in the following activities. If you would like to get involved, please fill out our Cat Tracker registration form.

College Fairs

We receive many invitations to college fairs each year. Alumni representation at such fairs helps us reach a greater number of prospective students than would otherwise be possible. Fairs are held throughout the fall and spring, usually at local high schools. Alumni volunteers represent Texas State University by distributing materials, answering general questions regarding the university, and encouraging students to visit campus and join the online mailing list. These events typically occur in October, or November, then again in March and April. Check out this year's college fair calendar.

Information Sessions

At an Information Session students and their families have the opportunity to meet first-hand with admissions staff, faculty and Texas State alumni from their area. Important information is shared about our admission requirements and application process, academic programs of study, housing, financial aid and scholarships, and student life.

Receptions

Receptions are formal sessions conducted by admissions officers such as our Guidance Counselor Update. Information is shared about our admission requirements and application process, academic programs of study, housing, financial aid and scholarships, and student life.
