What advice do you have for future students?
Don't be afraid to try new things! College is a great place to explore any number of options, like taking a philosophy class, joining a club, or forming your own intramural sports team. Find activities and people that interest you and get involved with them, even if they aren't related to your major.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I'm a big reader – my bookshelves have everything from comic books to novels to cookbooks. I'm a food writer, and I love getting recommendations for new restaurants. TV and movies are my biggest weakness, but I try to make time for the great outdoors, especially when canoeing on the Colorado River is involved.
What are three things you love about Texas State?
One – the buildings and the landscape. Texas State's campus is a massive, sprawling work of art. I love exploring the grounds and walking along the river. Two – the students. Coming from such diverse backgrounds, studying so many different fields and doing such incredible work, it's impossible not to want to sit and talk to them for hours and hours. Three – the Admissions Office! We have such an amazing staff here, just waiting to talk to folks. Don't forget, it's always a great day to be a Bobcat!
