Freshman-Transfer

To apply for undergraduate admission to Texas State you should carefully read the information below. Although not required, it is strongly recommended that you visit Texas State during the college search process.

Freshman-Transfer Procedures

Freshman-transfer students are high school graduates who are attempting to transfer between 1-29 college credit hours. To be considered for admission, freshman-transfer applicants must have completed and submitted the following documentation to the Texas State Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the assigned deadline. Click here for admission standards.

  1. ApplyTexas Application:
    For help with the application, refer to the "official" application instructions found within the cover pages of the Apply Texas Application. Click here to apply online . For additional guidance, please refer to the Texas State Information Sheet which is included with every ApplyTexas application.
  2. Admission Essay:
    Freshman applicants are required to write and submit one admission essay. Essay topics are found on page nine of the ApplyTexas application.
  3. Official College Transcript(s):
    Please submit all official college transcripts regardless of how long ago you were enrolled for these courses. This document will help us determine your transfer grade point average as well as the number of hours Texas State will accept.

    Please Note: Texas State is NOT responsible for contacting your previous college(s) to request an official transcript(s). You are expected to contact the college(s) to request that your official transcript(s) be sent to the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. This should be done early to ensure the transcript is received in our office by the deadline.

  4. Official High School Transcript:
    This document usually is sent directly from your high school's counseling office. This document helps us verify your official class rank.
  5. Official ACT or SAT I Scores:
    Take the ACT or SAT I and request that scores be sent directly to Texas State (ACT code #4178; SAT I code is #6667). We will accept scores that appear on your official high school transcript.
  6. Non-refundable $60 (US) Application Fee:
    Some waivers exist.
