To apply for undergraduate admission to Texas State you should carefully read the information below. Although not required, it is strongly recommended that you visit Texas State during the college search process.
Freshman Procedures
To be considered for freshman admission, students must have completed and submitted the following documents to the Texas State Office of Undergraduate Admissions by the assigned deadline. A Letter of Recommendation is not required. Click here for admission standards.
- ApplyTexas Application:
For help with the application, refer to the "official" application instructions found within the cover pages of the ApplyTexas application. Click here to apply online. For additional guidance, please refer to the Texas State Information Sheet which is included with every ApplyTexas application.
- Admission Essay:
Freshman applicants are required to write and submit one admission essay chosen from topics A, B or C. Topics are found on page nine of the ApplyTexas application.
- Official High School Transcript:
This document usually is sent directly from your high school's counseling office. This document helps us verify your official class rank and GPA.
- Official ACT or SAT I Scores:
Take the ACT or SAT I and request that scores be sent directly to Texas State (ACT code #4178; SAT I code is #6667). We will accept scores that appear on your official high school transcript.
- Non-refundable $60 (US) Application Fee:
Some waivers exist.
- Housing:
Housing Contract and Policy Update (as of 7/24/09): New freshmen (2009 high school graduates) are required to submit a housing contract. They will be placed on a waiting list and assigned as space becomes available. For more information regarding the University' Housing Policy Update, click here.
