Proud of our heritage as a teaching institution, Texas State offers 97 undergraduate degree programs, including the newest in engineering and nursing, and a combined 100 master’s and Ph.D. programs.  Texas State is also home to one of the fastest-growing Honors Colleges in the state.

Situated in most dynamic regions of the state, San Marcos is centrally located between Austin, the seat of state government (30 miles away), and San Antonio, the cultural heart of the state (45 miles away).  

A medium-sized city of 50,000, the San Marcos lifestyle includes the largest outdoor outlet mall in the state, a variety of mom-and-pop eateries that will satisfy your cravings for downhome barbeque and Tex-Mex, as well as the same national restaurants, shops, movie theatres, banks, and hotels located in your local area.

For the outdoor enthusiast, San Marcos is home to two rivers, golf courses for the traditional as well as Frisbee golfer, the picturesque Texas Hill Country, and a moderate winter climate.
