Getting Started

If you are looking for a college with great academic programs, plenty of student activities, and a beautiful campus, Texas State is the place for you!

This page provides tips you need to get started if you're considering enrolling, and information about what Texas State has to offer you.


Start Early

One of the first things college-bound students can do is take the ACT or SAT. Texas State requires either and will accept both for admission consideration.

Texas State requires all new freshman applicants to take the writing component of these tests although it is not considered in the admissions decision.

Visit Campus

No matter how many brochures you read or pictures you see, only a walk through campus will give you a true taste of what it is like to be a Bobcat.

Attend Bobcat Day

Bobcat Day is a one-day program that will tell you everything you need to know about Texas State. It's all there, from what majors are available to where the computer labs are to the types of residence halls.

Bobcat Days are held on Saturdays and families and friends of prospective students are encouraged to attend.

What Texas State has to Offer

Texas State has a growing number of undergraduate degree programs from which to choose, including a vibrant undergraduate honors program, so there is sure to be something for everyone.

Texas State also has a wide variety of campus organizations for you to get involved with once you are here. With everything from Greek to political organizations to groups within specific majors, there is sure to be something for every Bobcat.

If you like sports, Texas State has an array of school, club, and intramural teams. Also, Texas State's football team will be joining the WAC conference in 2012.

If traveling the world is your aim, Texas State's Study Abroad program has many opportunities for students to take advantage of.
