Choosing Texas State

You know you want to attend a great university...
but where should you go?

Texas State offers its students highly acclaimed academic programs, helpful faculty and multiple student involvement opportunities. We hope you find what you are looking for here at the Rising Star of Texas. The following are some tips that might aid in your decision.

Start Early: One of the first things any college-bound student can do to kick start their college search process is take the ACT or SAT. Texas State requires either and will accept both for admission consideration. As you prepare to take the ACT or SAT, know that Texas State requires all new freshman applicants to take the writing component of these tests although it is not considered in the admissions decision.

Attend Bobcat Day: Bobcat Day is a comprehensive one-day program that will tell you everything you need to know about Texas State. From what majors are available to where the computer labs are located to the types of residence halls and where the students like to hang out; it's all there. Bobcat Days are held on Saturdays and families and friends of prospective students are encouraged to attend.

Visit Campus: If you can't make it to a Bobcat Day, a campus visit is the next best thing. No matter how many brochures you read or pictures you see, only a walk through campus will give you a true taste of what it is like to be a Bobcat. Check out the Visitors Center for information on campus tours, self-guided tours and interesting sites. The information about the residence halls, academic facilities and recreation opportunities will give you the tools you need to make an informed decision.
