Transfer Credit

Transferability of Core

Students transferring from other institutions of higher education have their transcripts initially evaluated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to determine which courses will apply to Texas State requirements. A copy of this evaluated transcript will be sent to you. Please note that grades in all transferable courses, including D's and F's, also transfer.

Texas State accepts courses that fulfill the core curriculum at other Texas public institutions (indicated by a 3-digit code on the transcript). To view transferable credits from other Texas public institutions and their Texas State equivalent, visit our Equivalency Guide index.

Specific evaluation of transfer credit from private and out-of-state institutions may be requested. Students seeking further evaluation of private and out-of-state courses for fulfillment of general education core curriculum components may contact University College to initiate the process. Instructions for submitting a Transfer Equivalency Request can be found online. Please check with your academic advisor before submitting your request form.

Transfer Credit from Two-Year Colleges

Texas State will apply to a degree up to 66 hours from an accredited junior/community college. Consult your academic advisor if you have questions about this limit.
