The university provides general admission programs for first-time freshmen, transfers students with 1-29 transferable semester hours, and transfer students with 30 or more transferable semester hours. The admission standards are designed to ensure that admitted students are prepared to meet the academic challenges of the classroom at Texas State.

Freshmen who rank in the top three-quarters of their class, and whose high school rank and test scores place them near the general admission requirements, are eligible for an individual Predicted Academic Success review. A limited number of students whose academic record demonstrates potential for academic success at Texas State will be offered admission.
Limited Access Programs
Consideration for admission to McCoy College is a rolling admission process in which applications are reviewed in chronological order according to the date they were completed. To pursue a bachelors of business administration degree, you must meet the admission requirements of the McCoy College and receive assured admission to Texas State.
Students with fewer than 30 semester hours will be automatically admitted if they:
Other applicants who have received admission to Texas State will be considered through a competitive review process that is based on high school academic record and SAT or ACT score, or a combination of the two.
To be considered for admission, students with 30 or more semester hours must have completed English 1310, English 1320 and Math 1329 (or their equivalents).
These students will be automatically admitted if they:
Applicants with 30 or more semester hours whose overall GPA is below 3.0 will be considered for admission based on a competitive review process using the grades they earned in English 1310, English 1320 and Math 1329 (or their equivalents) and overall GPA from all colleges and universities attended.
It is the recommended that potential students submit their complete application by the priority date. Applications received after the priority date will be considered for admission on a space-available basis.

Application Requirements for Home-Schooled Students:
Graduates of non-accredited programs and GED recipients must have a minimum ACT of 26 or SAT of 1180 (Reading + Math)

DEADLINES - Scholarship & Financial Aid: The fall semester Admission deadline for scholarship consideration is DECEMBER 15 for freshmen, MARCH 1 for transfers; the financial aid priority deadline for the fall is March 31.
