College of Education Visit Day

Student teacher

Texas State University was founded in 1899 in response to the state’s need for trained public school teachers. While teacher preparation remains an important responsibility of the university's College of Education, the scope of its mission has expanded to include health promotion, exercise science and recreation professions, as well as counseling, adult education and school psychology.

Join us for one of our College of Education Visit Days to learn more about the majors and opportunities than can prepare you to achieve your goals in the fields of Curriculum and Instruction or Health and Human Performance.

If you are interested in any of the following majors or areas of study we encourage you to join us. We look forward to seeing you at a College of Education Visit Day.

Elementary, Middle School or Special Education; Athletic Training; Exercise and Sports Science; Health and Fitness Management; Health and Wellness Promotion; Recreational Administration

*Note: With the exceptions of Physical Education, Health Education, and Special Education, students interested in teaching at the high school level (grades 8th -12th) will choose a major outside of the College of Education in the subject area they wish to teach (i.e. English, Math, Music, etc.) and should contact the college that hosts their interested subject area for additional program information. For example, a student wanting to teach 9th grade English, would be a student at the College of Liberal Arts majoring in English
