Large Group Tours (10+)
Large Group Tour Details
The Texas State Welcome Center welcomes many groups to campus every year. We provide information and campus tours to various large or sponsored groups interested in visiting campus.
Large group visits are welcome most weekdays and during Bobcat Days, but you must register your group at least three weeks in advance. Once your request is received, one of our Welcome Center Specialists will contact you.
We are only able to accommodate up to 80 students and we require 1 chaperone per every 10 students attending.
9th–12th Grade Students & Prospective Transfer Students
Large Group visits for High School groups, Transfer Students and Outreach Programs are available Monday–Friday when Texas State is open. Our Large Group visits typically last about 90 minutes, with a guided tour of central campus. We also offer an optional Admissions, Financial Aid and Housing presentation that lasts about 30 minutes.
Since availability is limited, Large Groups must REGISTER at least three weeks in advance of their visit. We strive to accommodate as many requests as possible; but due to staffing limitations, facility size constraints and scheduling conflicts, we regret that some requests may be declined.
Large Group Tours are not available during the first week of classes, Spring Break, final exams, university holidays or other select dates. For a full list of unavailable dates, contact the Welcome Center.
Middle School and Junior High Groups
While we strive to accommodate all requests, we regret that the Welcome Center is unable to provide Middle School and Junior High groups with a formal tour. However, the Center for P-16 Initiatives may accommodate middle school groups as their schedule permits. To learn more, contact P-16 at Centerforp16@txstate.edu.
If you will be arriving in a bus, please let your bus driver know they will be required to park at Bobcat Stadium after dropping your group off at the LBJ Student Center.
Due to the high traffic of our LBJ Student Center bus loop, any buses left on the bus loop will be towed at the expense of the large group
So we can best serve all our large group requests, we ask that you cancel at least 72 hours before your scheduled visit.
We appreciate that unforeseen circumstances may prevent your group from arriving on time. However, because of other commitments and strategic resource availability, late arrivals may prevent our Welcome Center from providing the full campus experience.
- Chaperones must contact the Welcome Center if they foresee being late for a Large Group Tour.
- Late arriving groups may not be able to participate in all scheduled events.
- If a Large Group is later than 30 minutes, the scheduled campus tour is forfeited. A Self-Guided Tour option will be provided.
Campus is growing and this means construction, a lot of it. We ask you to be patient and allow yourself extra time to arrive.
