Sending a child off to college can be both an exciting and a stressful experience. Whether you’re a first-time parent of a college student or you’ve done this before, there’s a lot to think about.
We’ve pulled together some resources on this page to help you throughout the process. We also invite you to explore Texas State and our academic opportunities, along with our student support resources.
Texas Government Code §552.114, a state privacy law, prohibits us from sharing certain applicant information with any other person(s) without the applicant’s express permission. Applicants may complete and submit the Grant Access to Student Records form to give designated individuals access to information about their admission application.

Begin by sharing the Federal Student Financial Aid options with your child. Encourage him or her to research financial aid resources there.
Financial aid is available in the form of scholarships, part-time employment, loans, and grants. To apply for federal aid, you must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA opens October 1 of the senior year, and we encourage families to complete it as early as possible. Get more information about paying for college.
