At Texas State, we are excited to welcome over 9,000 new Bobcats each year at New Student Orientation (NSO)!

In order to best serve our incoming students, all New Student Orientation (NSO) programs are offered ONLINE.

Additional information about the online format is provided below.

What to Expect

New Student Orientation (NSO) consists of a series of online modules designed to prepare incoming freshmen for success as students at Texas State.

Students who sign up for NSO are sent instructions by email about how and when they can access these modules on Canvas, Texas State's Learning Management System. IMPORTANT NOTE: Canvas does not support access using Internet Explorer. For best results, use Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

NSO Sign-up

Freshman Orientation sessions are for students who 1) are graduating from high school and will start at Texas State the semester after graduation, or 2) have graduated from high school and have not taken any college level courses.

  • SUMMER 2021 ONLINE NSO DATES

    April 1 - May 26, 2021, at 5 p.m. for June classes
    April 1 - June 29, 2021, at 5 p.m. for July classes


    The virtual orientation modules must be completed and your holds must be cleared before you may finish the registration process. Please allow up to 3 business days for processing and hold removals.

    FRESHMAN ONLINE NSO FEE = $115

    Freshman completing online NSO for Summer 2021 can expect a charge of $115 added to their tuition bill.

  • FALL 2021 ONLINE NSO DATES

    April 1 - August 25, 2021, at 5 p.m.
    An optional 1-Day On-Campus Program will also be available in the month of June.


    The virtual orientation modules must be completed and your holds must be cleared before you may finish the registration process. Please allow up to 3 business days for processing and hold removals.

    FRESHMAN ONLINE NSO FEE = $115

    Freshman completing online NSO for Fall 2021 can expect a charge of $115 added to their tuition bill.
    Freshmen who also wish to participate in the optional 1-day on-campus program will pay an additional $35 at sign-up.
