What do you like best about San Marcos?

I love the sense of community and pride that can be found throughout the entire city. San Martians are always willing and eager to help the Bobcat community, and it’s nice to know that the students and the campus are appreciated by them. I also love the ways that TXST gives back to the city, such as the annual Bobcat Build service event and the philanthropic efforts of various student organizations. The bond between the university and the city is strong and ever growing.

How would you describe the atmosphere at Texas State?

TXST has a very welcoming atmosphere. Campus quickly becomes a home away from home for students because they are able to feel comfortable and safe. Everyone in the Bobcat community is there to support you and ensure that you thrive. It is easy to become involved on campus because of all the friendly faces.

What is your favorite tradition at Texas State?

My favorite TXST tradition is the Ring Ceremony! TXST is the only university to have a river that runs directly through its campus, and consider this a point of pride. The Ring Ceremony is special because it connects Bobcats with the spirit and tradition of the San Marcos River by having students dip their ring into a fountain of crystal-clear river water. Receiving the official TXST class ring is such a momentous occasion. The ring is a mark of achievement for all students, and it is a symbol of the work and dedication that they put into their studies.
