How would you describe the atmosphere of Texas State?

Texas State is a place where you can feel at home. As a student, I noticed quickly how everyone was nice and welcoming.

What do you like best about San Marcos?

  • Bobcat Pride! School spirit runs deep here at Texas State. You will know exactly what I’m talking about when you attend a football game and there’s one person in the crowd screaming “Texas!” and the crowd roars back “State!”
  • The trees. I’ve always loved beautiful scenery and Texas State has plenty of it. The grassy patches near the theatre building make for a perfect picnic site, or just a place to relax between classes.
  •  The many opportunities Texas State provides students. From traveling to South Carolina, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia; attending national conferences and speaking one-on-one with industry professionals; and making connections that landed me internships and jobs, Texas State gave me the platform to do anything I put my mind to. This is why I highly encourage students to get involved around campus. Even if it’s just one organization, get active.

What advice do you have for future students?

Getting active and staying involved around campus is extremely important. Take advantage of the Student Involvement Fair, visit a few tables and even go to some meetings the first week. Many of these organizations provide scholarships, travel opportunities and are networking goldmines! The opportunities you receive within these organizations can often help you far beyond your college career.
