Why did you choose to become an admissions counselor?

I chose to become an admissions counselor because I want to be an advocate for students who may not have access to higher education. When I was starting the college-going process, I had an abundance of assistance. I realize that not all students have that advantage and may not know the steps that they need to take in order to gain college admission.

What advice do you have for future students?

Take advantage of the entire college experience. I know that students hear this frequently, but get involved and use the resources that Texas State has to offer! Texas State has an abundance of opportunities for students and resources that will help you along your academic career.

What is your favorite tradition at Texas State?

My favorite tradition is students jumping in the river after graduation. Texas State is the only university in Texas to have a river flowing through campus, so it sets the Texas State graduation apart from other schools.
