Why did you choose to become an admissions counselor?

I am passionate about higher education and making sure all students have access to it, no matter what college they ultimately choose. I’m grateful, as an admissions counselor, to have the opportunity to work with students interested in attending Texas State, to ensure they have access to accurate information and assistance throughout their college process.

What are three things you love about Texas State?

The students, the location, and the campus absolutely make Texas State unique. The students are so friendly that I never tire of talking to them, hearing about what each student is studying and their individual story of what they’ve done at Texas State. The location of Texas State in San Marcos is one of the best, as it combines a small college town atmosphere with having easy access to the large metropolitan areas of Austin and San Antonio, so you’ll never be bored! The Texas State campus is so unique, situated in the beautiful Texas Hill Country with a river running through it. Where else can you stop in between classes to study on a riverbank with wi-fi at your fingertips?

What advice do you have for future students?

Get involved on campus and have fun with it! You can make so many friends from getting involved in an organization, conducting research with a mentoring professor, or having an incredible internship. College is a great time to embrace something new so get out of your comfort zone and have fun!
