What are three things you love about Texas State?

  1. The amount of resources available for students.

  2. The bobcat family! The traditions and school spirit make this campus feel like you're a part of a huge family. Everyone, including faculty and staff, are very positive and welcoming.

  3. The diversity on campus.

What is your favorite tradition at Texas State?

My favorite tradition is Bobcat Build! Every year in the spring, Texas State students and campus organizations come together for one of the largest community service projects in the nation! Students are assigned a property in San Marcos to help out. Some groups are helping locals with yard work and remodeling homes. I participated in Bobcat Build each year as a student. It is so rewarding to give back to the community of San Marcos.

What advice do you have for future students?

Take advantage of campus resources and get involved. Our campus provides many resources and opportunities for student success. The SLAC tutoring lab and the writing center helped me so much throughout my first year. Don't just walk by the tables in the quad during the involvement fair. Take the time to find your niche. Being a part of a student organization is a great way to make friends and give back to the community.
