Transfer NSO

At Texas State, we are excited to welcome over 9,000 new Bobcats each year at New Student Orientation (NSO). We encourage you to register for an NSO session as early as possible, since seats fill up quickly.
We look forward to hosting all incoming students for a New Student Orientation (NSO) session. Currently, all on-campus sessions will still be held as scheduled. All transfer students have the option of completing an online NSO. If you haven’t already, sign up as soon as possible.

Transfer Orientation is for incoming students who have completed transferable course work at another college or university and have been out of high school for at least one semester (not including summer). We look at the number of transferable credit hours that have been completed at the time of application to Texas State.

What types of NSO are available?

Online Orientation and On-Campus Advising

Transfer students are eligible to complete orientation online. Online orientation consists of an on-demand series of learning modules and a required quiz, followed by an appointment with an academic advisor. Students who complete orientation online pay less for orientation fees and have earlier access to course registration.

Transfer students wishing to register for courses at the Round Rock Campus (RRC) are required to complete orientation online and will be advised by RRC Academic Advisors, once the online orientation has been completed.

On-Campus

While there are several advantages to completing orientation online (e.g., earlier class registration, lower cost, time savings, etc.), eligible San Marcos Campus students have the option to attend an on-campus orientation session, if they prefer.
